New Teardrop Pallet Rack

Pallet Racking: The Backbone of Modern Warehousing

Pallet racking systems are the fundamental storage solution for most warehouses, distribution centers, and manufacturing facilities worldwide. They are designed to store materials on pallets in horizontal rows with multiple levels, creating high-density storage that maximizes vertical space. Far more than just steel structures, pallet racking is a critical investment that directly impacts a facility's efficiency, safety, and overall operational capacity.

Why is Pallet Racking Essential?

  • Space Optimization: Maximizes vertical warehouse space, reducing the need for costly expansions or additional facilities.
  • Inventory Organization: Provides a structured and accessible way to store a wide variety of SKUs, improving inventory control and visibility.
  • Operational Efficiency: Facilitates faster and more efficient loading, unloading, and picking processes.
  • Product Protection: Keeps goods off the floor, reducing the risk of damage from moisture, pests, or accidental impacts.
  • Safety: When properly designed, installed, and maintained, pallet racking provides a stable and secure environment for stored goods and personnel.

Key Components of Pallet Racking

While designs vary, most pallet racking systems share common structural components:

  • Upright Frames (or Vertical Frames): The vertical components that form the backbone of the rack. They consist of two upright posts connected by horizontal and diagonal bracing. The height of the uprights determines the number of storage levels.
  • Beams (or Horizontal Beams/Load Beams): These are the horizontal components that connect the upright frames and support the pallets. They typically have connectors that slot into the uprights, allowing for adjustable shelf levels.
  • Wire Decking: Often placed on top of the beams, wire decking provides a flat, secure surface for pallets, preventing them from falling through the beams. It also offers fire safety benefits by allowing sprinkler water to penetrate through levels.
  • Row Spacers: Used to connect two back-to-back rack rows, providing stability and maintaining consistent aisle width.
  • Crossbars (Optional)Small, horizontal channels that run front-to-back between beams, providing extra support for pallets, especially those that are non-standard or have uneven bottoms.
  • Anchor Bolts: Used to secure the footplates to the warehouse floor, providing crucial stability and preventing overturning.

Teardrop Pallet Rack is the universal industry standard for selective pallet racking but there are other styles including Keystone, Speedrack Round Hole, Slotted, T-bolt and more. Teardrop racking is easily adjusted and easy to assemble due to its rivet connection design.
